Human Rights

Rule of Law - The rule of law is supported by The Crown and The Government.

Equality - All persons are equal in the eyes of the law.

Freedom of Conscience - All persons are entitled to freedom of belief, freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of conscience.

Freedom of Religion - All religions are free to practice their faith except where the practice of such causes it to conflict with the laws of the land, to harm the public, to harm minors, to harm The State or the Crown, or to harm individuals non-consensual.

Freedom from Religion - No person may be compelled to belong to any religious or other body of belief. Nor may the Government exact specific consideration to any specific religion. The Government will be absolutely secular in function and completely impassive to favour of any given religion or other body of belief.

Right to a Family - Adults have the right to have children, and to marry. No marriage may be held as invalid by the Government of New Utopia. Marriage, family structure, and child-rearing are private issues not concerning The Government.

Freedom from Persecution - In accordance with freedom of conscience and freedom of speech, an individual may hold, act on, or voice opinions about others on any basis. Such action may lead to the individual becoming liable for damage if their actions incur such. An individual may not abuse or assault or otherwise harm an individual on the basis of the beliefs either party may hold, but opinions may be voiced. Individuals are free to abstain from any activity with any other, including business or employment on the basis of the beliefs of either party. The Government may not draw any distinction or favour between any members of the population on the basis of race, colour, creed, physical appearance, or gender.

Freedom of Speech - All persons are entitled to freedom to speak as they choose. Harassment and hindrance and causing public nuisance are not considered to be functions of free speech and may be held as harmful to the public, or The Principality. The Mandate requires the Government to intercede to protect the residents from direct harm. Actions resulting in such harms will be interceded. Additionally, such modes of speech (and other communication) which lead to slanderous or defamatory harm to another may cause liability for demonstrated damages to brought to bear in civil action. The right of freedom of speech does not entitle infringement upon the rights of others.

Special Vulnerability of Children - The Principality acknowledges the special vulnerability of children and legal minors. The Government or Crown may intervene in situations causing harm to children. The Crown Prosecutor may bring action to bear against parents who do not provide adequately for their children or other legal dependants. The rights of the child include the right to care not due to adults. The Crown Prosecutor will defend this right on behalf of minors.

Freedom from torture - Torture is illegal in The PNU.

Freedom from slavery - Slavery is illegal in The PNU.

Freedom to earn a living - All citizens of The PNU are free to earn a living or operate and own a business.

Freedom of movement - All citizens of The PNU are free to transit all public spaces in the territory of the state. All citizens are free to enter and reside in The PNU. All free citizens are free to exit The PNU at will.

Freedom of finance - All persons are free to own personal property and assets and to hold a bank account or policies where such can be negotiated.

Freedom to bear arms - Citizens of The PNU are free to bear arms where such arms are personal in scale. Weapons not permissible include artillery and weapons of mass destruction, including but not limited to nuclear, chemical, energetic and biological weapons. The Crown Prosecutor may take action against individuals arming themselves in a fashion which threatens the public, The Crown, the national safety, or the safety of others. The personal use of armour is also acceptable.

Right of Self-defence - A person shall not be liable for damage to another when the other is attacking them or invading their private property. Under this assurance, the offending party must be in the act of committing a crime.

The Right to medical treatment - All persons are entitled to receive any medical treatment available to them provided that they and their physician or medical practitioner are agreed on the treatment. This condition does not imply any right to receive any treatments free of charge.



Privacy Policies

Privacy - All individuals are entitled to privacy. Privacy is assured on private property. Privacy is available to all entities within The PNU, including businesses, companies, individuals, The Crown, The Government, financial institutions and account and policy holders and government departments.
